Ashtabula Lighthouse is located near the northern end of the west breakwater in Ashtabula Harbor.
Cleveland East Entrance Lighthouse
Between 1876 and 1883, a breakwater was constructed on the western side of the entrance to the river, and a lighthouse was established on its eastern end in 1884.

Cleveland Harbor Main Entrance Lighthouse
The Lighthouse Board requested $45,000 in 1907 for lighthouses to mark these structures. Congress appropriated the requested amount on May 27, 1908, and Cleveland Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse, the large structure that remains standing today, commenced operation at the eastern end of the extended western breakwater on March 25, 1911.

Fairport Harbor West Breakwater
This charming forty-two-foot tower, with its attached two-story keeper’s cottage, sits near the end of the west breakwater that shields the man-made harbor of Fairport. The harbor, in turn, protects the mouth of the Grand River, which has served as one of the region’s most important commercial hubs.
